IF YOU DREAD IT, DEAD IT
IF YOU DREAD IT, DEAD IT Whether you are in a relationship that’s not going anywhere that you’ve dragged on for way too long… weight
I know I know I haven’t posted a blog in awhile. Truth be told I thought I could do it all – doctorate program, full-time job, church ministries, maintain friendships, BLOG, and maintain my romantic relationship.
Turns out I’m not superwoman lol.
I started off handling everything well until I decided to take things up a notch and add another class. Boy was I wrong! I found myself slipping in school, crying on the way home from work, and I even missed my period for 2 months. I say that to say this, you must take care of yourself! Nothing or no one is worth your sanity and peace of mind. I had to get real with myself and take my own advice. My cup was empty and I had NOTHING to pour. So I went on several social media fasts to balance out everything because we all know social media is a HUGE distraction, well at least for me.
After I did that, I found my grades going up. I was feeling more at peace and was better able to handle my personal and work life. I prayed for favor over all things and even though I couldn’t fully commit to my duties at church, I kept praising God!
When praises go up Blessings come down!
I want you to really think – are you pouring from an empty cup? What things do you need to give a break so that your cup can be refilled? I know some of my readers are single and mingling, mothers, wives, fiancés, and mothers to be. What can you do so that you don’t feel burnt out?
I employ you to really take a day or so to really think of all your responsibilities and figure out what it is that you need to do in order to not feel overly stressed with LIFE! For me, it’s taking a step back and organizing time to focus on school work, but also making time for play (activities that bring pleasure). I also started my fitness journey with a trainer and really getting my life together. My hopes is to be mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially well.
Self care is necessary so that you can live a long and fulfilling life. No one wants to live life walking on eggshells, being grumpy, and just burnt out!!! So take that girls trip or singles trip you been wanting to take. Go on that cruise with bae. Read your favorite book. Dance in the rain. Go to the spa. Take time out to pray. Go to that museum. Go for some retail therapy. Give back to the less fortunate. Sign up for a cooking class. Take care of yourself ladies!
Until next time, as Iyanla Vanzant says, “Stay in peace and not pieces beloved.”
